Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship
Apply with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application, available at www.fafsa.ed.gov The HOPE Scholarship provides $1,750 per semester for 4 year institutions or $1,500 for 2 year institutions. Entering freshmen must have minimum of a 21 ACT (980 SAT) or an overall eighth semester 3.0 GPA. More information is available at the state web site. Grade: Seniors Deadline: received by September 1, 2014 for fall semester, February 1 for spring or summer semesters. Families need to apply with the FAFSA as soon as possible to receive federal money they may be eligible to receive (students may receive the HOPE scholarship and federal dollars from the university). University deadlines are usually around March 1st. Try to have the FAFSA complete by the middle of February to receive both state lottery scholarships and federal funds.
Ned McWherter Scholars Program
This scholarship is intended to encourage academically superior Tennessee high school graduates to attend college in Tennessee. Tennessee high school seniors starting their last semester in high school may apply. Recipients are RANDOMLY DRAWN. To be eligible, the applicants must be a resident of Tennessee, a U.S. citizen and attend an eligible Tennessee college, and have at least a 3.5 unweighted GPA and a minimum 29 on the ACT or 1280 on the SAT (math and critical reading). This $6,000 a year scholarship is renewable. Seniors must apply after the seventh semester! Grade: 12 Deadline: February 15, 2010
Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program
This scholarship is intended to promote student excellence and achievement and to recognize exceptional students who show promise of continued excellence. The award is based on federal funding. Recipients are RANDOMLY DRAWN. To be eligible, the applicants must be a Tennessee resident who meets citizenship requirements, and have at least a 3.5 GPA or a 3.0 GPA and a 24 composite score on the ACT or 1090 SAT (math and critical reading). This scholarship is renewable. Deadline: March 1, 2010
SHPE Foundation
A 2.75 G.P.A, Must be a full time college student in science technology, engineering, or Math, application form, personal statement, transcript, recommendation letter from a teacher or faculty, resume, complete the online scholarship. The amount is $1,000 - $5,000, and the deadline is May 1, 2014.
ADHA Institute
Must be enrolled in an accredited dental-hygiene program in the United States, a minimum G.P.A, and Full time student during the academic year you are applying for. Applications are available October 1 of every year. Deadline - February 1.
Greater Research Opportunities Fellowships For Undergraduate Environmental Study
United States Environmental Protection Agency scholarship recipients will receive support for their junior and senior years of undergraduate study and for an internship at an EPA facility during the summer of their junior year. The fellowship provides up to $19,700 per academic year of support and $9,500 of support for a three-month summer internship. Applicants must be citizens of the United States or its territories or possessions, or be lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence. They must also attend a fully accredited four-year U.S. Have at least a 'B' average overall. The amount is up to $29,999, and the deadline is December 5, 2013.
